NEW FOR SEPTEMBER 2010

The older group for 14+ years will be starting.  Times to remain the same as before and the groups want to meet together.  However, if the need arises we will arrange for the older group to use the Vestry so each age group has appropriate opportunity for discussion.  We will be monitoring how this works and making any adjustments as needed.

Rock Solid is a lot of fun which at the same time helps you to get to know God a little better.

Rock Solid is a lot of fun and madness which at the same time helps you to get to know God a little better.  While many activities are focused on the Christian life, Bible study, outreach and other Christian concepts, teens also need time for fellowship.

A youth group is not just a place where people come to learn about the Bible; it should also be a place where they come to associate with other Christians.  We therefore plan other social activities and outings that go beyond the typical Sunday church service.

We have regular music evenings with piano, guitars and amplifiers, a drum kit and PA system for microphones.  We encourage people to bring along their own musical instruments as well.  These musical gatherings can also be opportunities for us to prepare pieces of music to play at the monthly Family Service held at St Michael and All Angels Church.

We encourage participants to invite their non-Christian friends to our activities that are not at all threatening to teens who may be wary of organized religion.

Here are some of our activities that most people find a lot of fun:

indoor games and quizzes,

making biscuits or cakes (racing while we do it),

constructing and decorating seasonal displays to go in the front of our church (racing while we do that as well),

bowling.
