YOUR CHURCH WEDDING
Notes When Booking And Planning Weddings
please
read carefully
Banns of Marriage: This is the publication of the fact of your marriage
in both of the Churches in whose Parishes you live. Your Banns will
usually be called in this Parish on the first three Sundays of the month
preceding your marriage at the main morning Service. Please try to come to
church for the three Sundays when your Banns are being read. Wedding Bans Application Form
You will need to contact the Vicar of the "other" Parish, arrange
for the calling of your Banns there, and collect the certificate from him/her
after the third Sunday on which they are called. (There will be a small
fee). Your marriage cannot proceed without this certificate.
Fees: These should be paid two months in advance. If your wedding
is being professionally video recorded the fees will have to be doubled,
please check for details with our Vicar, Reverend Camilla Walton telephone
01494 673464 or email
Please ask the
Vicar to whom the cheque for the balance of the fees should be made payable.
Notes:
It is usual to pay the fee for the organist for use of the Organ, even
if you decide to bring you own organist for the service.
Music: You will need to decide whether you want to have
Hymns and Organ music. Our vicar will
advise you whom to contact. The normal
provision is up to 3 hymns, plus music for the entrance of the bride, the
signing of the registers and as you both leave.
More
about suitable hymns
Flowers in Church: Please never just arrange
things with a florist or friend without informing us.
Making the service yours: Would you like friends or relations to take
part in the service? You might have musicians, readers, 'pray-ers', or even a
Vicar or Minister among your family or friends! It would good to
involve them in your marriage service. Your choice of readings will reflect
what your thoughts are regarding marriage and it would be very special if you
wrote a short prayer of your own. (more about all this at the planning
meeting)! Suitable
Bible Readings
Order of Service: This is by no means necessary, but some people
find it helpful for the congregation to have one. If you decide to do
so, please check a proof with us before you go to the printers.
Remember you will need to print extra for the minister, organist and choir.
Bridesmaids There should be at least one bridesmaid who will take the
bride's bouquet. If you do have small children, an adult should be put in
charge of them leaving the principal bridesmaid to look after the bride.
Ushers and seating Preferably three Ushers, one from each family to
make sure people will be recognised and it is nice if one is female. A seating
plan for the front few rows is often useful, and a copy given to the Ushers.
Main usher must be present at the practice.
Confetti may be used in the Church grounds, it would help very much if
it were eco-friendly and bio-degradable and nearer the gate rather than the
doorway.
Photographs and Video Nominate someone as the official
photographer. They need not be a professional, but there must be only
one. Similarly for taking a video - nominate one person. Please make
sure they talk to the Vicar before the service about where they may stand
etc.
Parking: There are spaces for parking. The church car park is not large, but there
are parking spaces on the roads, except on weekdays between 11 and
12noon.
Access and Toilet facilities Good access for users of wheelchairs is
available, and there are toilet facilities in the church hall.
Rehearsal: This will be 5.30 on the Thursday before the Service and
it is important to have everyone there who will be
participating in the Service if possible, however small or large a part you
are planning for them to play.
