CHILDREN ON SUNDAYS Children and young people are very
welcome at St Michael’s. Child
protection
We take child protection very
seriously. People working with
children are CRB-checked through the Diocese of Oxford. CHILDREN We have a CRECHE for 0-3½s each
Sunday morning from 9.50am including on the second Sunday when the older
children are with us in the church. first Sunday of each month at 9.15am The Early Bird Service. This is our simple and fun service for
children aged 0-5 and their accompanying parents or guardians. The service includes easy to learn prayers
and songs, plus bible stories. It
begins at 9.15am and lasts for about 20 minutes. Everyone is very welcome. We’d love to see
you. second Sunday of each month at 10am
there is a FAMILY SERVICE in the
church. This service is geared to the
children, who read the lessons and prayers and do the sidesman’s duties,
including taking up the offertory.
Many of the children are involved in our junior choir. Instead of a sermon, there is either a
playlet performed by the children, or a talk in which they are involved. There is a crèche in the hall. Everyone is very welcome and there is tea or coffee and soft drinks in
the church afterwards In November the
Family Service may be on the first Sunday of the month. third Sunday
of each month at 9.50am there is a crèche in the hall during the
service. The children come into church
near to the end of the service. 3pm fourth Sunday of each month at 9.45am there are activities for the 3s to 11s in the
Church Hall with fun play time as the children arrive – there will be games
available for all to enjoy and you can arrive at any time until 10.00am. Around 10.10am the children are divided
into three groups (3-4 year olds, 5-7 year olds, and 8+ years) The children
will discover about Jesus using, crafts, music, and more. When the children come together again we
usually have a game. The children come into the church around 9.45am and if they wish they
can come to the altar rail during Communion time to receive a blessing. We would love your children to come and try this fun and friendly
children’s church aimed at welcoming children into the church family,
teaching about our Lord, and giving parents a chance to worship on their own
if they wish. Parents are welcome to stay with the children, attend church, or just
collect your child/children from the church after the service and/or come to
tea or coffee in the hall after the service around 11.10pm If your child would prefer to be in the church with you we have a
corner of the church where there are children’s ‘quiet bags’ and books,
colouring books, activity sheets etc and seats for the adults to sit with
their children. If your children are
very young, please feel free to keep them with you in the service or we can
take care of them in the crèche. The Sunday Club is a great way to get to know other families at St.
Michael’s and is well supported by children, parent s and volunteers. fifth Sunday of each month there will only
be a crèche in the hall. There are no
children’s activities in the church hall from the second Sunday in July
(Family Service in the Church) until the end of August. |
