BIBLE passages can be read on  www.biblegateway.com/

There is no substitute for reading the Bible.  The Bible is collection of books written by different authors over several thousand years.  Its books are: The Old Testament - history, the Law, the Prophets, poems and wisdom literature; The New Testamnt - eyewitness accounts of Jesus (the Gospels), collections of letters, and the Book of Revelation.

If you are new to The Bible you might like to read one of four Gospels about the life of Jesus and about the amazing things he said and did; Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. Many verses in the New Testament relate back to prophecies in the Old Testament!

You could also read the Acts of the Apostles and the letters written by St Paul and the early Christians, in the New Testament.

…… and of course, the Old Testament, starting at Genesis.

SOME BIBLE PASSAGES  New International Version Translation of the Bible

The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 22 verses 36 to 40

Jesus answered,

“You shall love the Lord your God

with all your heart, with all your soul,

and with all your mind.

This is the first and greatest commandment.

And there is a second like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself.”

St Paul’s letter to the Galatians Chapter 5 verse 22

But the Holy Spirit produces love, joy, peace,

patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness,

humility and self-control.

There are no laws against such as these.

St Pauls letter to the Philippians Chapter 2

Jesus .. Who, being in very nature God,

did not consider equality with God

something to be grasped

                                                   but made himself nothing,

taking on the very nature of a servant,

being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man

he humbled himself

and became obedient to death

– even death on a cross.

Therefore God exalted him, to the highest place

and gave him the name that is above every name,

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

in heaven and on earth and under the earth

and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God the Father
